Julian Casablancas on The Strokes’ live plans: Touring is ‘a great way to destroy a band’

If their handful of live appearances in New York last summer raised any hopes that The Strokes might finally be ready to head out on a full blown tour after the release of the ‘Angles‘ and ‘Comedown Machine‘ albums of 2011 and 2013, then frontman Julian Casblancas is likely to have just dampened down those expectations considerably.

Speaking to GQ, Casablancas rather coldly declares that a tour is simply, ‘A great way to destroy a band’, saying The Strokes ‘wasn’t so equal, but it was the illusion of equal, so it fucked with everything’. “A band is a great way to destroy a friendship, and a tour’s a great way to destroy a band,” he concluded.

Casablancas is currently concentrating on his solo work and will release ‘Tyranny‘ with the backing band The Voidz on October 13th.
