Gruff Rhys releases the new single ‘Lost Tribes‘ next month and will also play three extra live dates in December to round off a year which has seen his multi-media ‘American Interior‘ project enjoy a rapturous response from music critics and land a Gordon Burn Prize nomination from the literary world.

The venture’s various forms tell the story of Welsh explorer John Evans, whose 18th century journey to the USA was fuelled by the search of a mystical Welsh-speaking Native American tribe called The Madogwys.

‘Lost Tribes’ is out on October 6th through Turnstile, while a gig at the Pepper Canister Church in Dublin on December 16th and two nights at Cardiff’s Sherman Theatre on December 18th and 19th will follow this month’s UK tour which starts tonight (September 4th) in the Shetlands.

Of ‘American Interior’, Live4ever’s review concluded: “A bearded caveman with an acoustic guitar and a toy keyboard trying to emulate through sound the narratives that track through his mind is what it all sounds like. A crusader in the creative arts, absent from anything that’s been done before.”
