George Harrison‘s first six solo albums have been brought together and restored from the original master tapes for re-release later this month.

The project has been overseen by George’s son Dhani, who remarks: “I am so happy that what we started a decade ago by releasing The Dark Horse Years is now complete with the release of his first six albums as The Apple Years.”

“Some of these records have long been out of print, and so I cannot wait for music lovers to get their hands on these newly remastered versions. It’s a very proud moment for us, and I would like to thank everyone who has helped us in any way to achieve this.”

Starting with the 1968 instrumental, soundtrack album ‘Wonderwall Music‘ – the first album issued by The Beatles‘ then brand new venture Apple – ‘George Harrison: The Apple Years 1968-75‘ also includes 1969’s experimental ‘Electric Sound‘, the stone-wall classic triple LP ‘All Things Must Pass‘ of 1970, ‘Living In The Material World‘, ‘Dark Horse‘ and finally ‘Extra Texture (Read All About It)‘.

“George Harrison is a musical icon and one of the most imaginative and influential artists of all time,” Max Hole, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group International says. “It’s been great for us to work with Dhani and Olivia Harrison and all of the team behind The Apple Years project, a vital part of his legacy.”

The compilation will be released on September 22nd with an exclusive DVD and book, while each individual album is to also be made available individually.
