mini pops (source field mix)‘ is the first new song to be revealed by Aphex Twin in over a decade and can be heard via YouTube below.

The track will be included on Richard James‘ new album ‘Syro‘, his first under the Aphex Twin moniker since 2001’s ‘Drukqs‘, when it is released via Warp Records on September 22nd.

Speaking to Rolling Stone recently about his return, James revealed a kickstarter campaign initiated by fans to aid the release of a long since shelved album entitled ‘Caustic Window‘ which dates back to 1994, convinced him to work on brand new material.

“As much as I like to think I don’t really like fans – I mean, it’s not very healthy,” he said. “You can’t be thinking about keeping other people happy, going in circles. But that was really touching, and really sweet. And I’m getting a bit older. It’s like, ‘Okay. People out there really, really want stuff off me, so I can’t deny it. Let’s put it out’.”
