The initial longlist for the 2014 Polaris Music Prize – Canada’s equivalent to the Mercury Music Prize – has been whittled down to a final ten acts ahead of the winner’s announcement on September 22nd.
Making the cut is Arcade Fire‘s double album ‘Reflektor‘ and Owen Pallett‘s ‘In Conflict‘, as does ‘Hot Dreams‘ by Timbre Timber, while those to have missed out include Pink Mountaintops, PUP and Solids.
Both Arcade Fire and Owen Pallett have previously won the prize. Last year’s recipient was a less than impressed Godspeed! You Black Emperor.
The prize giving ceremony will take place at The Carlu in Toronto.
