The Libertines‘ 2014 live comeback has expanded still further with the news today that the band will play Optimus Alive in Lisbon, Portugal on July 12th – an event headlined by Arctic Monkeys, Bastille and The Black Keys.

Pete Doherty and Carl Barat, together with John Hassall and Gary Powell, are returning to the stage for the first time since 2010, but the plans for this summer are going someway beyond those of four years ago, with headline bookings at British Summer Time and Benicassim already confirmed along with what’s sure to be an electric warm-up gig at Glasgow Barrowlands on June 29th.

While their 2010 setlist stuck exclusively to the modern classics which make up their two studio albums ‘Up The Bracket‘ and ‘The Libertines‘, the band could this time have new material ready to go thanks to Doherty and Barat both recently declaring writing sessions to have been very much on the agenda.
