Ray and Dave Davies still discussing Kinks reunion

Ray Davies has confirmed he is still discussing a possible comeback for The Kinks with his brother Dave.

Like many other classic bands who emerged in the early sixties, The Kinks are celebrating their Golden anniversary this year, but unlike others such as The Rolling Stones and The Beach Boys whose 50th year has fallen recently, they have as yet been unable to put aside their differences for long enough to stage a live comeback.

However, relations between the original warring brothers of British music have shown signs of improvement during the past year, and in a new interview with the Sunday Times, Ray Davies has again spoken positively about the chances of him sharing a stage with Dave for the first time since 1996.

“I met Dave only last week to talk about getting back together again,” he said. “We’ve also spoken a few times on the phone and emailed.”

“He’s been composing his own songs, but I’d really like to write with him again. We both agree we don’t want to do old stuff or tour with past hits. It’s got to be something new.”
