Jack White breaks vinyl sales record in the US

jackwhiteThrowing absolutely everything at the ultra LP vinyl version of his second solo album ‘Lazaretto‘ – hidden tracks, dual speeds, hand-etched holograms, alternate mixes and all – has paid off big time for Jack White.

The former White Stripes man has secured the biggest first week sales total on the vinyl format in the United States since Nielsen Soundscan began collecting such data back in 1991, with ‘Lazaretto’ shifting around 40,000 copies on vinyl since its release.

“The various plays and scripts penned by White’s 19-year old self provide an intriguing basis for self collaboration which results in a thoroughly enjoyable listen, showcasing a talented mastery of many genres, yet remaining steadfastly his own work bolstered by the ever blossoming artistic freedom allowed by a solo record,” Live4ever’s ‘Lazaretto’ review concludes.

Jack White is due in the UK next week for an appearance on Glastonbury’s main Pyramid Stage immediately before Metallica are due to make their much-debated headline bow at the festival.
