The Kills chasing ‘something completely different’ on new album

Alison Mosshart has said she and bandmate Jamie Hince are chasing ‘something completely different’ as they work on a first Kills album since 2011’s ‘Blood Pressures‘.

“We’re trying to make a record that’s completely different,” Mosshart told Nashville Scene. “Anything that sounds like it could have sat quite easily on any of the other records will probably get scrapped or reworked, played on some kind of different instruments with a completely different kind of rhythm and a completely different kind of feel.”

“That’s what takes so long, is trying to break out of the thing that you know and you’re good at and trying to get good at something else.”

The Kills have been recording in London before moving on to Nashville for rehearsals ahead of a North American tour which starts at the city’s Cannery Ballroom tonight (May 30th). The tour runs through to July 19th and an appearance at the Super Bock Festival.
