Pixies dropped in to the Water Music Recording Studios in Hoboken, New Jersey to record a session for Spotify which can be heard at this link. There’s also a video of ‘Silver Snail‘ which you can watch via YouTube below.
The band are currently on a long world tour following the release of ‘Indie Cindy‘ last month, which was their first studio album for over two decades and brought together their recent ‘1‘, ‘2‘ and ‘3‘ EPs.
“The album is a mixed bag containing both the bizarre brilliance that shaped Pixies’ earlier material and a more conventional sound that could well be an expression of the band’s maturity, or willingness to move a little more into the mainstream,” our review reads.
Pixies also issued the album in vinyl form for Record Store Day on April 19th, in the process helping the initiative to enjoy its best year sales-wise since launching in 2008. The album was the biggest seller on the day, ahead of a special Ghostbusters soundtrack LP and the Tame Impala live release ‘Live Versions‘.
