There’s a distinct late eighties/early nineties feel to this week’s New Tunes Guide Highlights – Winchester trio Wild Smiles and Dignan Porch.

Wild Smiles have just signed to Rob da Bank’s Sunday Best Recordings and are presenting the new track ‘Fool For You’ as a free download on their Facebook page. Winners of Steve Lamacq’s listener-voted BBC 6Music Rebel Playlist, the band play the Shacklewell Arms in London tonight (May 17th), with London dates coming up during the remainder of the month and in to June.

Two albums in, Dignan Porch are now lining up their first UK release in the form of ‘Observatory’, due out on June 16th via the Brighton-based independent label Faux Discx. Like their fellow Highlights, the band have several live shows coming up in London, including a gig at the Purple Turtle as part of Camden Crawl.
