Wilko Johnson has ‘reluctantly’ cancelled his live summer plans to undergo what is being described as a ‘medical procedure’ related to the pancreatic cancer he was diagnosed with last year.

The former Dr. Feelgood guitarist had been planning several festival appearances this summer, including a spot at Glastonbury, but a spokesman has said Johnson recently, ‘Sought further advice about his pancreatic cancer and as a result has undergone a medical procedure that will see him out of action for the foreseeable future’.

“Doctors are hopeful that following the surgery the prognosis for Wilko will be positive,” he added.

Wilko Johnson declared he would not be seeking treatment for his cancer diagnosis and instead embarked on a farewell tour of the UK in the spring of 2013. Those live plans would ultimately run throughout most of the year, and he has since recorded the ‘Going Back Home‘ album with Roger Daltrey, which entered the UK charts at #3.
