It’s looking like Ricky Wilson‘s hard-earned sacrifice is about to pay off – the Kaiser Chiefs are heading back to the top of the UK charts for the first time since 2007 according to midweek figures.

Following the departure of founder member, lead songwriter and drummer Nick Hodgson, Wilson has been on the charm offensive during the past few months to boost the fortunes of his band and their new album ‘Education, Education, Education & War‘, most notably agreeing to become a judge on the BBC series The Voice.

It seems to be working, with the LP said to be ‘narrowly’ ahead of last week’s number one, Sam Bailey‘s ‘Power Of Love‘, while the latest posthumous Johnny Cash album ‘Out Among The Stars‘ is also heading for a high new entry.

UK Midweek Album Chart, Top 10:

1/ Kaiser Chiefs – ‘Education, Education, Education & War’

5/ Christina Perri – ‘Head Or Heart’
