Glastonbury resale lasts just 16 minutes

glastonburywideThe last remaining tickets for this year’s Glastonbury festival were eagerly snapped up within 16 minutes yesterday (April 27th).

A resale of tickets which had either been cancelled or not paid for went ahead from 9am on Sunday morning, and just a quarter-of-an-hour later all had gone. “The Glastonbury 2014 resale tickets have now sold out,” organisers said on Twitter. “Thanks to everyone who tried to buy one, and apologies to those who missed out.”

Back in October, Glastonbury broke its own record after well over 100,000 tickets were purchased in one hour and 27 minutes.

Since then, headliners Arcade Fire and Kasabian have been announced, but the identity of the Pyramid Stage’s main act on Saturday, June 28th remains unconfirmed due to ‘contractual reasons’.

The likes of Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie and Prince have long been linked with the spot, while Metallica and Kate Bush are more recent favourites. In addition, tweets from Liam Gallagher led to tabloid speculation that two-time headliners Oasis could be ready to reform for the festival, seemingly ignoring Michael Eavis’ not-so-subtle hint that he has no intention of inviting back to Worthy Farm a band which has endured a mixed relationship with the event down the years.
