Syd Arthur will release their new album ‘Sound Mirror’ through Harvest Records on June 2nd.

The album was recorded at the band’s own Wicker Studios where they self-produced along side the Arcade Fire and U2 cohort Tom Elmhirst. It is out on CD, vinyl and digital formats.

“We were jamming and it just fell out,” frontman Liam Magill says of an early writing session with Paul Weller at the Solid Bond Productions Ltd. Studio. “Weller actually got my book out and read through it – that was pretty nuts. I nailed it, the essence of what I was trying to say.”

“The weirder stuff comes as naturally as the more traditional. It’s all the same to us, really. Somehow everything filters through and comes out as us four guys and the sound that we make.”

The LP is set to be previewed in May with appearances at the Live At Leeds and Brighton Great Escape showcases on May 3rd and 9th respectively. The album is described as being inspired by the band’s hometown – with the title ‘Sound Mirror‘ taking its lead from the World War Two anti-aircraft structures which still litter the southern coast of England.

“They were the precursor to radar,” Raven Bush explains. “They’re very striking objects, basically facing out from England to France. We liked the idea of this mega mirror, reflecting out to the rest of the world from Kent.”

‘What’s Your Secret’
