Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas has given a brief update on the band’s future plans ahead of what could be an even briefer return to the live stage at the Governors Ball event in New York later this year.

Talking to Mexico’s La Tercera about his current solo ventures, Casablancas also switched attention to The Strokes, remarking that: “We’re trying to carry on as friends, taking it easy, recording a couple of songs, and do a couple of shows.”

This follows an email towards the end of last year which suggested 2014 could prove to be a bit busier for the band. The message to fans, which largely looked at guitarist Albert Hammond Jr‘s solo EP ‘AHJ‘, also had a section which read:

“Hey folks, while The Strokes are toiling and writing, looking at 2014 for a return to the scene, Albert Hammond Jr. has been busy on his solo EP.”

To date, only the Governors Ball booking has been confirmed however, and that will arrive over the weekend of June 6th-8th.
