Tom Williams & The Boat will release their third album ‘Easy Fantastic‘ on May 19th.
The vehicle for the eponymous songwriter joined up with producer Ian Grimble at Abbey Road for the album’s recording, and have also premiered the track ‘Hurricane‘ at this link.
“It was the first track that we had done that seemed to encapsulate everything we wanted the new record to be,” Williams explains.
“Riff heavy, great groove and a subterranean approach to lyric writing that we felt was important as an antidote to the introverted self-obsession of the last record. The riff reminded us of early Led Zep, and with the Hammond organ on the chorus, the song introduces a new sound and classic feel for the band.”
“Ant was the first person to play me Bandwagonesque by Teenage Fanclub,” Williams says of the group’s lead guitarist Anthony Vicary. “And however many years later, I’m still obsessed by that record.”
To make the release, a one-off gig at The Waiting Room in Stoke Newington has been arranged for March 25th.
