Echo & The Bunnymen have a new album all but completed and will head out on a European tour in support of its release in the near future.

The band gave the update on Facebook, declaring it their ‘best work for a very long time’ in the process.

“We are very excited to announce that the brand new studio album produced by Youth (The Verve, Embrace etc) is nearing completion and that a title and artwork are decided plus a full European tour already booked. US dates to follow,” the post reads. “Ian feels it’s the bands best work for a very long time.”

The post-punk torch bearers released their debut album ‘Crocodiles‘ back in 1980 and hit a critical and commercial peak three years later with ‘Porcupine‘. Their twelfth studio LP is set to follow 2009’s ‘The Fountain‘, while leader Ian McCulloch issued the solo album ‘Pro Patria Mori‘ in 2012.
