Josh Homme ‘casually’ working on new Eagles Of Death Metal material

joshhommewide1It was no real surprise when Josh Homme told Rolling Stone earlier this month that he is already planning a return to the studio for Queens Of The Stone Age in the wake of the triumphant ‘…Like Clockwork‘ album of 2013, but perhaps more unexpectedly Homme has also revealed in the past few days that he is looking to start work on a comeback for Eagles Of Death Metal.

Homme’s collaboration with Jesse Hughes has been on the back-burner since 2008’s ‘Heart On‘, but that could be about to change as he told The Music‘s Bryget Chrisfield last week. “We’re just kinda working at a reasonable, sort of casual pace,” he said. “We’ve got wandering and ambling down to a science.”

During the aforementioned chat with Rolling Stone at the start of the year, Homme confirmed Queens Of The Stone Age have plenty of songs ready to record, and could be in the studio by the autumn.

“We have more than enough songs,” he said. “We’re booked ’til September, but after that we plan to jump in the studio and get going.”

“When it’s time to make music, that’s about getting lost for me. To be a control freak is not half as good as being a freak who’s casually in control. You’re feeling around in the dark for something that feels good. As long as you’re not in an orgy, that can be an amazing moment.”
