When he told Rolling Stone back in July that he had begun work on solo, Dead Weather and Raconteurs material, another busy chapter in the always-hectic career of Jack White looked inevitable.

“We all live in Nashville now,” he said. “All the Raconteurs and all the Dead Weather live in Nashville now, so we often go on trips together, because we’re all just good pals. We’ve recorded some things, too. And Brendan and the Raconteurs just built a new studio right in town, so it’s a lot of great inspiration going around.”

And after Third Man Records’ announcement a few months later that the new Dead Weather material would be released as a series of singles building up to a full album in 2015 brought those plans still closer, the first track to emerge has been uploaded to YouTube and can be heard below.

“These songs are not throw-aways,” Third Man explained of the singles series. “These songs are not demos. These songs are not outtakes. These songs are ample reminders of the ferocity of this motley collection of low-lifes, grifters and ne’er-do-wells.”

Open Up (That’s Enough)‘ forms a part of a double A-side with ’Rough Detective‘ and has been released on 7″ via Third Man’s subscription-only Vault series.
