Foo Fighters returned to the live stage on December 11th with a  55,000-capacity outdoor gig at the Foro Sol stadium in Mexico.

Covers of The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers were aired during the show, along side some of the band’s own arsenal of crowd pleasing rock anthems.

Foo Fighters have spent much of the second half of this year working on the follow-up to the 2011 album ‘Wasting Light‘, which is expected to be released sometime in 2014. Speaking to Billboard back in the summer, drummer Taylor Hawkins revealed they were just ‘getting started’.

“We’re getting started,” he said. “We’re getting our ideas together. Dave has his brain working overtime, like usual, and he’s got a lot of great ideas, both musically and conceptually – none that I can speak of at this moment, but it’s gonna be great. It’s gonna be cool.”
