The longlist for the BBC’s latest Sound Of… poll has been revealed, with Royal Blood the sole flag-waver for the rock world.

The list reflects an expected continuation into 2014 for the current trend of electronica-led pop music, while the likes of Chance The Rapper and the latest Brits School graduate Ella Eyre also get a mention.

The Radio 1 Breakfast Show will announce the Top 5 once the longlist has been whittled down from Monday, January 6th 2014. “I can’t wait to introduce everybody to the sound of 2014,” the show’s host, walking quiff Nick Grimshaw has said.

The BBC’s Sound Of… poll has tended to be a precursor to commercial success for many acts since it launched over ten years ago; Adele, Keane, 50 Cent, Ellie Goulding and Jessie J are some of those to have come out on top from 2003 onwards.
