The Walkmen ‘have no future plans whatsoever’

What a rubbish start to the weekend – The Walkmen‘s future is in doubt after bass player Peter Bauer told The Washington Post the band ‘have no future plans whatsoever’ once shows in Washington and Philadelphia are completed in the coming days.

Describing the band as being on the verge of ‘a pretty extreme hiatus’, Bauer said there is no desire to record a new album, and hinted that his bandmates have been drifting apart for some time.

“We really just have no idea,” he claimed. “I don’t think any of us wanted to write another Walkmen record. Maybe that will change down the line, maybe it won’t, maybe we’ll play shows. I think it’s weird to make a hubbub about something if there’s nothing to really make a hubbub about. At the same time, I don’t think we’ve been a gang properly for a long time, so there’s not much to break up, I guess.”

The Walkmen truly began to make waves with their 2004 second album ‘Bows + Arrows‘, led by the now-classic rock single ‘The Rat‘. They arguably hit a career high with 2010’s sublime ‘Lisbon‘ record, and released what could prove to be their final studio LP last year.
