The Horrors and Thurston Moore are to be honoured at the first ever Fly Awards ceremony when it takes place in London early next year.

Fly is launching its inaugural awards night to mark 15 years as a national magazine, and will present The Horrors with the Outstanding Artistry Award, while Thurston Moore’s work with Sonic Youth and much more is to be recognised with the Living Legend prize. Other categories and nominees are to be announced in due course.

“War Child believe the best music can change not only people’s mood but people’s lives,” Ben Knowles, director of fundraising at War Child has said – The Horrors’ prize will be presented in association with the charity.

“We are proud that The Horrors will be receiving the Outstanding Artistry Award in our name at 2014’s The Fly Awards. A band whose thrillingly uncompromising live shows, three incredible albums and refusal to conform to trends has marked them as an individual talent and seen them inspire devotion among their growing legion of fans. The award is deserved recognition.”

The 2014 Fly Awards take place on February 6th at the Forum in London.
