Video: The Who, Oasis drummer Zak Starkey debuts single with new band Penguinrising


The Who and one time Oasis drummer Zak Starkey‘s new band Penguinrising have premiered the official video for their single ‘HateMale‘, have a watch below.

The promo features a guest appearance from This Is England and Quadrophenia star Perry Benson, and arrives ahead of the band’s forthcoming live appearances at the This Feeling club nights in London and Manchester on October 12th and October 19th. In London, they will be joined by Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan, who is planning a special DJ set.




Zak Starkey has left the confines of the drumkit to take up guitar duties for Pengiunrising, where he is partnered by former Stereophonics sticksman Javier Weyler and singer Sshh Liguz.

Starkey has been a member of The Who’s touring crew for many years, and also joined up with Oasis for the recording of their 2005 album ‘Don’t Believe The Truth‘, after which he played a part on the subsequent world tour. Studio sessions for the 2008 follow-up ‘Dig Out Your Soul‘ proved to be his final activities with the group.
