Liam Gallagher, James Dean Bradfield and members of New Order were among those paying tribute to the late Charlatans drummer Jon Brookes last night (October 18th).

Raising funds for the Brain Tumour Charity, Liam Gallagher was joined by members of his current band Beady Eye, as well as his former Oasis chum Bonehead, for a short set at London’s Royal Albert Hall which included renditions of ‘Live Forever‘ and ‘Columbia‘, while the troupe were later onstage with The Charlatans for a cover of George Harrison‘s classic Seventies mantra ‘My Sweet Lord‘.

“He didn’t have an ego, do you know what I mean,” Gallagher had earlier said of Brookes when speaking to the BBC. “I wouldn’t claim to be his best mate and that. I only met him through the gigs we’ve done, but every time I met him I had a splendid time.”

Jon Brookes succumbed to a brain tumour earlier this year after first being diagnosed with the illness back in 2010 when he collapsed during a Charlatans gig in Philadelphia.
