Broken Bells will finally follow-up their 2010 self-titled debut album early next year, the duo have confirmed.

Producer Danger Mouse and The ShinsJames Mercer were last active together in March 2011 when the four-track EP ‘Meyrin Fields‘ was released after their maiden studio effort cemented a dazzling critical response by landing a nomination for the Best Alternative Music Album at that year’s Grammy Awards.

The pair have been busy with their many other ventures since, but will now issue the second record ‘After The Disco‘ in January 2014.

A long wait hadn’t been anticipated by Mercer during an interview with Billboard not long after ‘Broken Bells‘ release, when he said:

“We need to do another record, for sure, because we’ve got these songs we need to put out. We’ve got these songs that aren’t B-side type stuff, definitely ones we want on a record, and we enjoy this. It’s fun. I think Danger Mouse enjoys it, too.”
