Muse frontman Matt Bellamy claims the band are readying ‘the highest resolution concert ever shot’ for a limited theatrical and IMAX release.

According to Bellamy, Muse’s gig in Rome this summer, which formed a part of their ambitious European outdoor tour, was recorded in preparation for a cinema film whose release date is as-yet-unconfirmed.

“Over the summer, we played this massive gig in Rome Olympic Stadium, that was probably the best gig of the year,” Bellamy told Rolling Stone at the recent iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas.

“It is gonna come out in 4K, which is the highest resolution concert ever shot. It’s four times more powerful than HD, so it’s like ridiculous detail. When you see the concert being filmed, you can see all the crowd, you can see their faces being filmed.”

Muse’s European tour brought them to the UK at the end of May for stadium gigs in Coventry, London and Manchester.
