A new solo EP from Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. will be released through his bandmate Julian Casablancas‘ Cult Records label later this year, it has been confirmed.

AHJ‘ comprises five tracks, and has a release date of October 8th. It continues Hammond Jr’s sporadic solo career which began in 2006 with the debut album ‘Yours to Keep‘, and continued in 2008 with ‘¿Cómo Te Llama?‘.

“It’s a combination of both previous recordings, which in turn makes it feel like it’s the best material that I’ve made so far,” he has explained.

The EP consists of ‘Cooker Ship‘, ‘Strange Tidings‘, ‘Carnal Cruise‘, ‘Rude Customer‘ and ‘St. Justice‘, all of which were produced, engineered and mixed by Gus Oberg in Hammond Jr.’s own New York studio.

“I’ve been working with him since my first solo project, after we met and became best friends,” Hammond Jr. has said of his producer. “We get along and we understand each other musically, so everything just flows.”
