Serj Tankian has used a Q & A session on Reddit to dismiss suggestions that System Of A Down are ready to work on a new album.

When asked by a fan during the chat: “Is it true that there’s a new System of a Down record in the making?”, Tankian replied: “No, that is not true. A quick scan of press online will show that we have not yet agreed on a timetable for another record due to its time commitments.”

After the fan then added, ‘Seriously I think everyone wants a new System Of A Down album. It’s been too long since the last one’, Tankian replied: “We really appreciate that, but we have to make a record when we think it’s time, not anyone else.”

The possibility of a new record apparently raised its head after a one-off gig at the Hollywood Bowl, when drummer John Dolmayan is said to have told the crowd: “Next time we come back here, we’ll have a new fucking album.”

System Of A Down’s to-date final studio album arrived in 2005.
