Dave Grohl‘s latest musical escapade will arrive courtesy of Joan Jett‘s forthcoming solo album, reports Rolling Stone.

The US rock veteran’s latest solo effort will be a deeply personal affair, and is said to feature songs dealing with the death of her parents and Hurricane Sandy.

“I’m in a different part of my life”, Jett recently told The Modesto Bee. “The song’s aren’t all sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll. There comes a time when you have to go through stuff. For me — this isn’t very uplifting – but I call it the decade of death, losing people, companion animals very close to me, my parents, really heavy things.”

As well as Grohl, ‘Unvarnished‘ will also include an appearance from Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace. “It’s a real band album,” Jett has said in a statement announcing the 10-track LP. “Everybody was involved.”

First single ‘Any Weather‘ is due to be unveiled on the US chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live on August 8th.
