2013 Welsh Music Prize nominees unveiled

Gruff Rhys‘ side project Neon Neon is amongst the acts to have been shortlisted for this year’s Welsh Music Prize.

Neon Neon’s second record ‘Praxis Makes Perfect‘ is one of the front-runners after their debut ‘Stainless Style‘ was nominated for the 2008 Mercury Music Prize, ultimately missing out to Elbow‘s ‘The Seldom Seen Kid‘.

“It’s the third year of the Welsh Music Prize, and we are pleased that it continues to grow in stature,” awards co-founder and BBC DJ Huw Stephens has remarked.

“This year’s shortlist is again an eclectic and exciting one, all chosen by our jury of more than 100 members from across Wales who spoke up for the albums they felt deserved a greater platform. his year’s prize, which forms part of Swn Festival, will be an exciting one and we looking forward to celebrating all the nominees this year.”

The winner will be announced during a ceremony at the Kuku Club in Cardiff on October 17th.
