Nicky Wire has said Manic Street Preachers are hoping to have the second of two studio albums recorded during 2013 on the shelves by the April of next year.

The first of those LPs, ‘Rewind The Film‘, had its release date (September 16th) and tracklist confirmed yesterday and, speaking to NME, Wire has the band are planning a spring 2014 issue for its more ‘intense’ successor.

“It’s not just chucking something out; it’s really fully formed,” Wire explains. “It’s the next step on from ‘The Holy Bible’ and ‘Journal For Plague Lovers’. It’s quite intense but synthetic as well.”

During the chat, Wire also described the make-up of an album track which he describes as a ‘a critique of the attack on the working classes over the last 30 years’.

“It starts with the miners’ strike and moves through Hillsborough, and it’s a critique of the attack on the working classes over the last 30 years,” Wire continues. “It’s the most spiteful, angry track on the album, and it’s almost the link to the other record – it sounds like ‘Lodger’ era Bowie.”

‘Rewind The Film’ is to be preceded by the first official single ‘Show Me The Wonder‘ on September 9th, while the opener and title-track – featuring guest vocals from Richard Hawley – has already been premiered.
