The longlist for this year’s Polaris Music Prize – the Canadian equivalent of the Mercury Music Prize – has been unveiled, with Mac DeMarco, Rhye and Majical Cloudz likely to be strong contenders for the award.
“A lot of our jury expressed that this was the most difficult Polaris ballot they’ve ever submitted. The results of this careful and passionate deliberation will make for some truly engaging listening for music lovers”, Steve Jordan, Polaris Founder and Executive Director, remarks.
Feist took home the prize last year for her fourth record ‘Metals‘, while other previous winners have also included Arcade Fire.
