Mumford & Sons confirm Glastonbury headline gig is on

Mumford & Sons‘ Glastonbury appearance is definitely on according to the band’s keyboard player Ben Lovett.

Several North American dates were postponed earlier this month after Ted Dwane underwent emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain.

With the shock news coming just weeks before their scheduled headline spot at Glastonbury, their Worthy Farm arrival was thrown into doubt, but a speedy recovery for Dwane means the British group will be at the event as scheduled.

“We’re going to get back out on that stage at Glastonbury as four brothers and do what we do,” Lovett has told the Radio Times.

“To have 1,000 people turn up and sit in a field and watch us play some songs, that completely blew my mind,” Lovett continued when remembering their first appearance at Glastonbury five years ago. “Each time we play we’re slightly out of our comfort zone.”

“But that’s an inspiration – every time it’s just a bit madder than we were expecting. But whenever we tour elsewhere then come back to Glastonbury, it always reminds us how brilliant it is to be British, and what a great British institution it is.”
