Video: The National perform live on Late Show…with David Letterman

The National appeared live on the Late Show…with David Letterman in the US last night (May 20th) to celebrate the release of their sixth studio album ‘Trouble Will Find Me‘.

The respected Brooklyn-based band were accompanied by a string section on the long-running chat show for a performance of ‘Don’t Swallow The Cap‘ which can now be viewed below.

‘Trouble Will Find Me’ follows 2010’s ‘High Violet‘ which, after a series of highly praised releases, proved to be something of a commercial breakthrough for the group.

“For the past ten years we’d been chasing something, wanting to prove something,” frontman Matt Berninger has said of the LP.

“And this chase was about trying to disprove our own insecurities. After touring High Violet, I think we felt like we’d finally gotten there. Now we could relax—not in terms of our own expectations but we didn’t have to prove our identity any longer.”

The National visit the UK and Ireland this November for dates in Belfast, Dublin, Manchester and London.
