The new Arcade Fire album is shaping up to be ‘really great’ according to former LCD Soundsystem man James Murphy.

“I think it’s going to be a really great record, actually. I’m eager to see it come out,” he has told Rolling Stone. “There’s a lot of them, and they’re mostly self-produced – like, they don’t need a producer in a certain way. So I didn’t know how it would go.”

Arcade Fire have been joined by Murphy in DFA studios as they continue work on the follow-up to the exalted 2010 album ‘The Suburbs‘. The Canadian band, who began recording sessions late last year, have also signed up their long term studio collaborator Markus Dravs.

Released in the August of 2010, Arcade Fire’s third album delivered strong commercial success as well as garnering countless awards in both the UK and US. Most notably, ‘The Suburbs’ picked up the Album Of The Year prize at the 2011 Grammys, and also won the International Album gong at that year’s Brit Awards.
