Beck has invited a bunch of famous friends to a one-off show in London when he will perform his off-the-wall ‘Song Reader‘ album during an evening of art and music.

‘Song Reader’, issued last year, comprises twenty individual pieces of music, all to-date unrecorded, existing merely in sheet music form and released via a full colour book featuring original artwork from Marcel Dzama, Leanne Shapton, Josh Cochran, Jessica Hische and others.

At the London Barbican on July 4th, the album will finally be brought to life, with Jarvis Cocker, Franz Ferdinand, Beth Orton, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Joan As Police Woman, Conor O’Brien, The Staves, Guillemots, Michael Kiwanuka and James Yorkston and The Pictish Trail all agreeing to join Beck on the night. Other special guests are set to announced in due course.

Artwork exhibitions and amateur interpretations of the songs will also be showcased in build-up to the gig.

Tickets are onsale from this Friday, May 17th.
