Alt-J plan on entering the studio this summer to begin work on the follow-up to last year’s industry worshipped debut album ‘An Awesome Wave‘.

“We go in the studio this summer,” the band’s Gus Unger-Hamilton reveals during an interview with the Daily Star.  “We are very keen to work on the second proper album. Some songs have been started and almost finished. It’s feeling good.”

“It’s been hard to write on the road because we don’t have access to our instruments. Maybe we’ll do a Futureheads and make an a cappella album.”

Hamilton also hinted at a fresh sound for the Mercury Prize winners after being inspired while working on the soundtrack for a new British film entitled Leave To Remain.

“We’ve just finished the soundtrack for a British film called Leave To Remain by a director called Bruce Dickinson,” he continues.

“The film is about asylum seekers in London. It follows three young people who try to seek safety in the UK. It’s sad, it’s life-affirming, it’s brilliant.

“The music is more free, there wasn’t the pressure to turn ideas into songs. So it allowed us to come up with interesting sonic landscapes and let them run.”
