OK, so this should be great – Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio (a distant cousin of the onscreen mobster Steve Buscemi) tells Rolling Stone magazine that Buscemi will direct a Youtube/Vevo livesteam of the band’s concert, to be shot at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom on April 28th. The gig is part of the American Express Unstaged Series.

Rolling Stone further reports that Buscemi will film “bonus documentary footage” that will appear in the run-up to the show.

Baio explained: “It’ll be the band’s first NYC show in “two-and-a-half years,” and should feature about half the tracks from Vampire Weekend’s forthcoming third album, Modern Vampires of the City, which they’re currently working up for the stage. The album is due in stores May 14 in the U.S.

Chris added: “He really is a great director. Growing up, I was a huge “Sopranos” fan and one of my favorite episodes is “The Pine Barrens”, which he directed. Also, I just realized this morning he directed the ‘Leap Day” episode of “30 Rock” last year; that’s one of my favorites. I feel safe in his hands.”

And now let’s all sit back, relax and enjoy Buscemi perform his ‘interesting’ version of “Diane Young” next to Vampire Weekend during the 2013 Easter Bonnet Festival on 5th Avenue in New York City.
