Mark Ronson has spoken of taking a ‘masterclass in production’ after working with Sir Paul McCartney on the former Beatles legend’s new studio album.

“He’s done every kind of music,” he tells Billboard. “I don’t know if our stuff is revolutionary, but they’re brilliant songs. I just tried to give him a sound he was looking for. You take a master class in production, like harmonies and layering sounds and arrangement. His ideas are just incredible.”

Paul McCartney is to head out on a world tour when his new album is released later this year. McCartney has previously told BBC 6Music that as well as Ronson, he has also recorded tracks with Ethan Johns, Paul Epworth and Giles Martin – son of the Beatles producer George.

“It’s really good,” Ronson continues. “He writes really good songs. He understands that you’re so nervous to be working with Paul McCartney ’cause everyone is. He gives you a lot of leeway, but then at the end of the day you need to deliver the goods.”
