Hurts have admitted to enduring an ’emotional meltdown’ during the latter stages of the touring commitments behind their debut album ‘Happiness‘.

“There was an emotional meltdown in Innsbrook,” Adam Anderson recalls. “I remember that. I threw my piano on the floor. I found Theo quivering in the stairwell a few hours later.”

“We got it together for Brixton and got drunk with Clive Owen and David Ginola. I showed him a video of me doing kick-ups.”

Earlier in the interview, the Manchester pair had also recalled a gig not long before when Anderson fell asleep at the keys during a rendition of ‘Unspoken‘.

“I had a moment in Kiev,” Anderson tells BBC Newsbeat. “We’ve got this song called ‘Unspoken’ – it’ll disappoint some of our fans, it’s a very emotional song but at that moment, I got tired.”

“There’s a break in the middle where Adam doesn’t play,” Theo Hutchcraft adds. “It’s just strings, but it must have been that bit.”

“I think you woke me up by slapping your hand on the piano,” Anderson concludes.

Hurts’ second album ‘Exile‘ was released earlier this month.
