Video: The Killers joined by New Order’s Bernard Sumner in Manchester

The Killers did their level best to further endear themselves to the locals in Manchester by covering three of the city’s most celebrated bands and inviting Bernard Sumner onstage during their re-arranged concerts earlier this week.

An illness to frontman Brandon Flowers had caused the postponement of two Manchester Arena shows last year, but the band were back in town on February 17th and 18th to make amends.

“We’ve got a little treat for you everybody,” Flowers told the crowd before Sumner joined the group onstage, fan footage of which has now been uploaded to YouTube and can be seen below.

“I don’t know if you know this or not but we took our name from a New Order video. It was from the song called ‘Crystal’. We’re going to play it for you tonight with the illustrious and praiseworthy Bernard Sumner.”

Earlier, there had also been a brief nod to Oasis‘ ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger‘, while one of Manchester’s most influential acts, The Smiths, were recognised on the first night with an airing of ‘There Is a Light That Never Goes Out‘.
