The Cribs had a brand new track premiered on Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6Music show yesterday afternoon (January 3rd), which will be included on the band’s forthcoming ‘Payola‘ singles collection.

According to Ryan Jarman the song, given the title ‘Leather Jacket Love Song‘, was the last to be recorded with Johnny Marr before his departure, but was discarded as the brothers wanted a completely ‘fresh start’ when they began work on the 2012 album ‘In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull‘.

“I do love leather jackets, but this is not specifically a love song to a leather jacket,” he told NME. “It’s just a typical love song, like a lot of our songs. We wrote it after we finished ‘Ignore The Ignorant’, so it’s the last song with Johnny on it. It never got released, despite the fact that everyone loved it, because we made a fresh start with ‘…Brazen Bull’. It’s a three-minute punk rock song, typically Cribs-y.”

‘Payloa’ is due for release on February 24th. At the time of writing, the track is available to sample on YouTube:
