Biffy Clyro are heading for their first UK number one album according to midweek sales figures.

The band are leading last week’s chart topper – the new Les Miserables‘ movie soundtrack – with their sixth studio album ‘Opposites‘. Elsewhere, the reissue of Fleetwood Mac‘s classic Seventies LP ‘Rumours‘ is heading for the Top 10, while Emeli Sande‘s ‘Our Version Of Events‘, the biggest seller in the UK last year, is still holding strong at #5.

Live4ever’s review described ‘Opposites’ as showcasing, ‘What is now essentially Biffy Clyro’s default motif, appealing to the majority of their fan spectrum. It’s doubtful a true return to their initial harder hitting rock roots will ever materialise, but if the current formula is proving this impressive, we should probably ask ourselves: Why should they look back?”

The new Album Chart will be officially confirmed this Sunday (February 3rd).
