Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has denied stories which suggested the band were ready to take a prolonged break from the music world, and has revealed he is instead writing material for a new album.

“I’ve been writing songs and I’m so fired up about the band’s future,” Martin is quoted as saying in the Daily Star.

“I’m fortunate to do what I do and no way do I want to stop. This three-year break idea only came about because I said at a gig in Australia that we might not be back there for three years. That’s probably true, but that’s just how a world tour works. No chance are we taking a three-year break.”

The rumours emerged after Martin had apparently told the crowd at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane last week that it was the ‘last big show for three years or so’ as their ambitious Mylo Xyloto tour finally winds down.
