Video: My Morning Jacket, Roger Waters pay tribute to Levon Helm

My Morning Jacket were joined onstage by Pink Floyd veteran Roger Waters earlier this week at a special tribute concert held in New Jersey organised in memory of the late Band drummer Levon Helm, who passed away earlier this year. Fan footage of a performance of the classic track ‘The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down‘ can be viewed below.

Levon Helm succumbed to cancer back in April, when his family broke the news in a short statement which read: “Levon Helm passed peacefully this afternoon. He was surrounded by family, friends and band mates and will be remembered by all he touched as a brilliant musician and a beautiful soul.”

Yim Yames of My Morning Jacket was among the many musicians to pay tribute to Helm at the time, quickly taking to Twitter to pass on his message of condolence: “Sending well wishes and healing thoughts to the great Levon Helm and his family right now.”
