Jake Bugg could be on course for a UK number one with his brilliant self-titled debut solo album.

The Nottingham-based songwriter has been garnering much attention during recent months, and with a hugely impressive first release now secured, Bugg’s album is ahead of nearest rival Leona Lewis on the midweek chart, with Mumford & Sons one further place back. Elsewhere, Bellowhead could land a Top 10 place with their latest LP ‘Broadside‘.

Jake Bugg is due to begin a maiden tour of the US in support of Noel Gallagher and Snow Patrol, with his own headline UK dates later opening up on November 12th at the Birmingham HMV Institute.

The official chart will be confirmed this coming Sunday (October 21st).
