Ash have confirmed plans to release their ‘A-Z‘ singles series on special edition triple vinyl in the US next month, when they will also embark on a lengthy tour.

In response to the huge changes sweeping through the music industry, Ash announced their intention to move away from the traditional album format and instead release a long run of stand-alone singles. These began in May 2009 with ‘White Rabbit‘, and ultimately led to 26 singles which have now been brought together into the ‘A-Z’ collection. The vinyl edition will also include a card to download the digital version with bonus content.

“That’s where the idea for A-Z came from,” Ash frontman Tim Wheeler has said when describing the band’s decision to record and release a new song every two weeks for a year.

“We needed to find a challenge, so this was it. It’s almost like being an athlete in training. We got into a good flow, and it was a really creative time because of that. We never ran out of ideas. They just kept coming.”

Ash’s tour will initially include dates with Weezer on November 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th, and continues on to November 21st when a final gig arrives in Boston.
