The new documentary chronicling The Rolling Stones‘ 50 years together as a band will be entitled Crossfire Hurricane and is to be released to cinemas in October.

The film has been directed by Brett Morgen, and uses a plethora of unseen footage and commentary from the surviving Stones members to follow the band through the many milestones of their long career, from the early days as a touring blues covers band, later to global superstardom in the Sixties and creative peaks in the Seventies, right through to the present day.

“Crossfire Hurricane invites the audience to experience firsthand the Stones’ nearly mythical journey from outsiders to rock and roll royalty,” director Morgen has said. “This is not an academic history lesson. Crossfire Hurricane allows the viewer to experience the Stones’ journey from a unique vantage point. It’s an aural and visual rollercoaster ride.”

As well as the cinema screenings in October, a general release will follow in November.
